Chandler RS124 Compressor

Chandler Limited RS124 Compressor is a re-creation of one of the most coveted audio tube compressors of all time, the legendary EMI / Abbey Road RS124, adapted for use in the modern studio.
RS124 Compressor was designed in 1960 by Abbey Road Chief Technical Officer Bill Livius, Deputy Head Len Side and experienced EMI Audio Designer Mike Bachelor, Abbey Road RS124 Compressor is one of the most coveted pieces of hardware ever developed.

Born out of the Altec 436Bs compressors purchased by EMI in the late 1950s for Abbey Road Studios and which one was not happy with.

RS124 is the compressor most closely associated with recordings with The Beatles at Abbey Road Studios where it was diligently used and left its mark on most of the group's catalog. RS124's soft character and ability to tame transients without the sound being shut off, and it was something that quickly became popular with the Abbey Road Studios techniques, and its use was therefore widespread for all parts of the productions, both tracking, bus compression, mix and mastering. The RS124 Compressor was built for use exclusively in Abbey Road, and was never commercially available. For the first time ever, it is now possible to get a genuine RS124 that completely captures the personality that lay in the original hardware. RS124 (Ser. 60070B, 60050A, and 61010B) are still in use in the famous studio to this day.
