API

API or Automated Processes Inc. is one of the most reputable American manufacturers of audio equipment with roots dating back to the 60s. API was initially a leader in the production of high-end mixing desks for broadcast and TV, but gradually gained a significant position in leading sound studios due to the desks' unique sound qualities.

API still makes desks, i.a. the well-known 1608, which is the wet dream of many studio owners. But the excellent components from the desks have also found their way to 19" rack units and not least API's well-known 500 Series system, where individual modules of preamps, EQ, compressors etc. can be put together in 6-, 8- or 10-slot racks with shared power supply.

500 Series is an open standard where other manufacturers can supply devices for the system, so you can freely put together a super rack with your own favorites in hardware processors.
